The Inn on the River's was originally the main building in the Snyder Sanitarium complex operated by Dr. George P Snyder and his wife, Margaret Meaders. The Original Family Campground, Oakdale opened in 1925 as a campground and motor court, built around the largest swimming pool in Texas at that time. The Oakdale Plunge sits at 330,000 gallons of water. Oakdale is one of the only private RV parks in the country listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For almost 100 years, Oakdale has been home to many events, from family reunions, RV rallies, swimming parties, and music concerts.

With the Dinosaur Valley State Park boundary less than a mile away, views of nature are endless and the cabins' balconies provide the perfect spots for viewing sunrises, sunsets and countless stars in the night sky. For safety and in order to ensure a relaxing and serene environment for our guests, only children over 18 are permitted to stay.
